I want to run Xoops, which works better with Ubuntu; the server or desktop edition ?

There seems to be alot of tradeoff's.

Well it depends on what you are doing exactly. If running on a remote web server perhaps the server edition would be better resource wise. If on your personal computer and you want to run desktop applications (sound games office tools and such) the destop edition would be the better choice. You can still install the needed servers to run XOOPS locally with.

I wanted to run XOOPS so that it can be accessed over the InerNet, so I guess the server version is the better one to run?

If that is all you plan to use it for and do not need X applications.
