Hope this is the right place as question covers two areas.

I have a modified theme I have worked on. and as my site has disabled and some with impaired sight. they seem to be missing the PM alert in user menu.

Is there a way to be able to get this alert to show under the header in the theme ? The theme may not be so much the problem as I have space and add a div or small table

Take a look at THIS theme news article by AxelF as that theme has a usermenu included in the theme (also PM alert) maybe it'll give you some ideeas
