Hello all you xoopers !!!!!

What i would like to do is :

when i call my site http://www.mysite.com, before entering it i would like to display a page which will have a flash intro.

When the flash finishes, i want my main XOOPS site to load.

Thank you for your time !!!!!!

ok then you would look at putting you XOOPS site in a sub directory:

http://www.mysite.com/xoops_directory/

In the root place your flash intro page, this must be named index.html

http://www.mysite.com/index.html

Obviously you must get the flash to re-direct to the XOOPS directory when done, also as a courtesy place a link to people can click and avoid watching the flash intro, after all I know there are others that find these irritating, especially if you gotta watch them every time.

You could also look at incorperating your flash intro into the front page of an XOOPS site, maybe use a block, but then it will load every time th home page is viewed. (annoying)

You could look at scripting which says 'if member has viewed flash, skip then direct straight to XOOPS site'.

Hope this is of some help.

Putting the site into a subdirectory is definately the easier method (Which I use myself)

Hallo,
as far as I understand, both using an introductory page (whether or not with Flash) and putting XOOPS in a subdirectory are not good for Google & Co.

I'm not an expert in SEO, but I don't see why it would cause a major problem, set the meta tags to follow, then it should follow the link and still index your XOOPS site.

There are other methods, maybe google the question and see if you can find a suitable solution for you.

Hi

There?s another way but it depends on your server configuration (it must be set to resolve first the ".html" extension)

Then if that?s the case, just put the "flashintro.html" on the root of your XOOPS site and voilá
