1) I am giving every registered user permission to approve articles that they submit. Is there a way to remove the "Approve" checkbox since it is redundant.

2) I want all articles to be published immediately without an expiration date. So can I remove the "Set date/time of publish/expiration" checkboxes too?

3) I do not want to give my users the option to edit articles if the article has been published for more than 30 minutes. Is there a way to do this? I only see an option to turn off editing entirely.

Thanks.

Not sure on 3, but for 1 and 2...

1) To remove the "approve" checkbox, you'd have to hack the module; that is, modify the php files that the module runs on. If you don't have PHP experience, I strongly do not recommend this route. Instead, try turning on Auto-Approve in the module's preferences. It should be entitled "Auto approve news stories without admin intervention?". Set this to "Yes" and news stories will be published without the need of an administrator's approval.

2) Once again, to remove these checkboxes, you'd have to hack the module. If these are left alone (the checkbox is not checked), then it should publish immedietly with no expiration.

I hope this information helps. Good luck with your site!

Does anyone know how to hack the module? I don't want to give users the option of expiring articles that they submit.

By "hack" I mean a cosmetic hack. I think all I need to do is remove the checkbox label and description. The default settings are fine. I don't need to program something new or anything.

You can find a fairly easy hack to #2 posted here. Try doing a search, I *think* there's a hack for #1 around here somewhere.

i think this just unchecks the checkbox. i want to cosmetically delete the checkbox and the description so that the user can't even see it. the point is to not allow the user to expire any news they submit.

For example, I can probably just replace the description text in the code with "" and that'll be a pretty harmless way to delete it. But how do you deal with the textbox?
