New Install - MySQL error on Check Privileges

I'm trying to install Xoops. I've created the Database with phpMyAdmin but for some reason when I click on Check Privileges I get the following error:

MySQL said:


#1054 - Unknown column 'N' in 'where clause'


This happens with all the databases I have in MySQL.

Any Ideas?

What are your phpMyAdmin and MySQL versions? That information should be at the top of the main phpMyAdmin page.

PHP Version 4.1.2
SQL 3.23.58

I think, phpMyAdmin doesnt say, but its what my hosts told me. They are doing my head in at the mo cos when they changed the Control Panel to the new one everything got screwed up and its taking over 2 weeks now for everything to get sorted.

phpMyAdmin doesn't indicate its version?

You might want to install your own phpMyAdmin, from http://phpmyadmin.net. The newest version is 2.8.2, which I haven't tried. I'm still using 2.8.0.3, and haven't had any problems with it. If you do this make sure you protect it; I recommend selecting the HTTP authentication method in its configuration file; the documentation explains how to do that.

Oops I thought you where talking about the PHP version. Doh! wot an idiot I am, that will teach me to read properly before typing.

version 2.5.6

Unfortunately i dont think i'm allowed to install another version of phpMyAdmin. Its all controlled by my hosts.

That version of phpMyAdmin is over two years old.

If you can install XOOPS, you should be able to install your own copy of phpMyAdmin. It's just an ordinary PHP script.

Thanks anyway, but i've now moved hosts and i've got XOOPS working successfully. And i'm happy
