suppose i installed XOOPS on

1234.awardspace.com

and now i want to change the subdomain from "1234" to "4321" like this

4321.awardspace.com

in that case, should i install XOOPS from the beginning or there's a shortcut for that?!

if you just want to change your subdomain your hosting provider may have a simple browser based way to make subdomains that point to subdirectories in anyway you want.

i just moved a site from .../ to .../new/ and had to edit a couple things in mainfile.php but you'll figure it out.

others may be able to explain better.

"I tried to do it but it doesn't work"

give more details. exactly what you did or didn't do. what errors are you getting? blank white page? XOOPS version, etc. maybe somebody can help.

did you already poke around the faq?

Well, I moved all the files and directory from one subdomain to ther other and when I'm trying to load my website I see it doesn't exist, nothing is loaded, not even a blank page, it's like it doesn't exist at all !

I tried to find some things in the FAQ but didn't see anything useful for me

Please first tell us:

Are these two subdomains on the same server and in the same package? (hence when you ftp your site you can access both folders with the same user?)

Are you still using the same database?

If it in the same package then you
- just move or copy the files (as you have done)
- edit mainfile.php in the main XOOPS directory to reflect the new adress and server path
- make sure the directories and files have the correct permissions again
--> mainfile.php 444
--> cache, templates_c and upload folders 755
Sorry, this signature is experiencing technical difficulties. We will return you to the sheduled signature as soon as possible ...

Yes, they're on the same server

And I tried this and it still doesn't work

Should I install XOOPS again?

I think on buying a domain "com" so I shall do it anyway, no?
