Yes, it's free, but that's not the issue

I found so many other free SMTP servers

look at that:

http://www.freemailguide.com/free_pop3_email.html

There's a big list of free SMTP servers!

The issue is I can't configure it properly

Look at this topic

http://forum.awardspace.com/viewtopic.php?p=14173#14173

(It's a topic at Awardspace.com's website forum)

What is the "Path to sendmail" what is it?!?!

What should I put in it?!?!

I checked other peoples' problems with XOOPS (googled it) and I saw so many people complained on the same problem I have (that after registration activation email isn't sent) - and the solution they were offered is to check with the host the details

But that's not it!!

I just wanna know what is exacly this "Path to sendmail"! What is it?

And why is it set on

/usr/sbin/sendmail

What is this

/usr/sbin/sendmail

there is no directory named USR in my webspace host!

Neither SBIN !!

So what exacly is it?!

And should I change it to what?!

Suppose I'm using a free SMTP server - what should I put in??

I didn't see an answer for that, and it's so bothering me

Arie

Ok to sum this up:

You are doomed because:

- you are using a free awardspace account which has phpmail/sendmail disabled

- you are using a free awardspace account which could in theory use an external smtp server but again this is while not disabled blocked by the fact that fsocket is disabled and you cant get an outgoing smtp connection for that reason

To answer the other question in the last post:

What about that path /usr/sbin/sendmail? Its the default path for the mail transfer agent sendmail on unix style systems. It´s completely normal that you can´t see that when connecting with ftp since its outside of your access area. When used its used by the apache webserver which has the permissions to that directory.

So in the end the only thing you could do is set the registration to auto activate the account or do admin activation manually.

Sorry.
