Installation problem

hi,

ive setup LAMP in fedora core 3.. during XOOPS installation process to be exact "confirm database settings" the installation wizard didnt check if the database exist. instead it redirect me to /xoops/index.html

index.html is a blank page

did i miss something during LAMP configuration?

Which version of XOOPS are you installing, and have you tried to install again with the same problem?

These sort of problems are tricky to diagnose because each server set up is quite different which is probably why you haven't had any other responses.

Always give as much information as possible to help people identify where things are going wrong.

xoops 2.0.yeah i tried to reinstall XOOPS it didnt work. i encountr the same problem.. it really sucks!! i dont have any idea how to fix it..
maybe the problem is in my LAMP environment. maybe. i have no idea where to start troubleshooting.

do you have any idea why xoop wizard did check my database?

When you're going through the wizard, do a view page source of the page that gives the problem when you leave it. There should be a hidden form field called 'op'. It should be set to 'checkDB'. Also check what the form action is set to, it should be index.php, which will call up the /install/index.php page again and do the check. All I can think is that the redirect is not working on your setup correctly, but it's strange that the rest of the wizard works as it does the same thing each time using a different 'op' value.

If these are all okay, I probably can't help any further.

The last thing I can think of is that you don't have the /class/dbmanager.php file for some reason which is why it is bombing out.

What version of MySQL are you using? XOOPS doesn't work with 5 at present. I run on 4.1.13 without any problems.

mysql Ver 11.18 Distrib 3.23.58, for redhat-linux-gnu (i386)
PHP 4.3.11 (cgi) (built: Nov 8 2005 06:24:40)
Apache/2.0.53

install/class/dbmanager.php exist.. huhuh what now?
