is there an announcements maillist or security maillist of xoops? How do you know if there is a new release or security patch beyond coming back to xoops.org every day?

There are various mailing lists at: http://sourceforge.net/projects/xoops/ you can sign up for.

(You can also use the "news" option in the admin panel of your own XOOPS site )

Thanks for your quick reply. Alas as i saw the mailing list on SF not maintained regularly.
I have lot of sites with xoops, joomla, drupal, etc, several other forum engines installed on linux and windows based servers. As an administrator of those servers i would like to know if any application or distro im using is threatened by security flaws or if it is patched for some reason. Finding related information on the official web pages takes a lot of time every day, im just trying to shorten this round for myself :) For linux distros you can subscribe to security maillist and i hoped i could do the same for applications as well, but i couldn't :) Only drupal have such a mail list.
Please let me know if you know anything that could help me out.

Well the site is in the process of being redesigned at the moment, so this is certainly something that could - and I think - Should be done...
