Site URL

I'm either really bad at searches, or this doesn't exist yet as a question (I'm guessing I'm bad at searches)

I set up a site using the numbered IP of the server because at the time the domain name was being set up via a third party (don't ask, it's complicated). ANYWAY, long story short, we have the URL now, and I want to know how to (if possible) change the URL of the site from the http://12.34.56.78 to the actual name http://www.sitename.com. I don't like surfing the site and seeing http://12.34.etc in the address bar when it should be the domain name. Masking is the only phrase I can think of.

Can I do this, and what files do I need to edit to do this?

I tried mainfile.php, and it works, but I get locked out of the site. I saved a backup and I can reload it to restore functionality, but I must be missing something. If you can direct me to the existing thread on this, or answer here, I would be appreciative.

Changes are in mainfile.

Delete contents of templates_c except the index.html file.
Delete contents (adminmenu.php) of /cache except the index.html file.

Re: Site URL

in the cache folder, there's only adminmenu.php and one of the ones that starts out ^randomstringhere. Delete both of those?

Edit - I did anyway (had backups) and that worked. Thanks for the reply.
