Upgrade from newbb 1.0 to cbb

im newbie. want to ask which version of cbb suit me. im using XOOPS 2.0.13.1.

so is it that simple to upgrade my forum. i read the readme of cbb and it is so simple. before that, i contacted one of the moderator here and he said that it is to complex to upgrade forum. for your info, i have basic of internet programming.

anybody who want to give me full brief how to upgrade from newbb 1.0 to any suit cbb?

plz help me because forum seem to be my most important module for my portal.

Do you know how to make a backup of your db and files?
If so then just do it.

One way would be to setup a local copy on your pc (using xampp or xsas) and pre-test the update there.

If you cant do that ... then:

- close your site in preferences
- upload the new bb 3.x module overwriting the old one
- upload Frameworks folder to your XOOPS root folder
- go into system --> module administration and update the newbb module there (do not uninstall the module!)
- go into newbb administration and check the permissions on your forums and test if you can still use it

And if something goes wrong you have the backup of your site and need to go back there.

Depending on your experience though i would prefer testing it with a local copy.
(use the search to find more threads about using xampp or xsas)

newbb 3.XX??
or could i choose cbb 1.16?

another confusion, how about frameworks folder?
is it create frameworks folder manually with no file in it?
or where should i find it?
