Is there anyway to add more buttons to the navigation bar which holds the user menu and search option.

I think it would be cool if I could intergrate other similiar drop down menus along with the one that is there. Or better yet add a few more buttons on the top thus eliminating the main menu block!

Any help would be greatful as where is the file to edit that located? Oh and is there anything else I need to know?
