I would like to have extended user profiles, so that the users can add extra information about themselves. I have already install the new user page module which I think will be a big help.

Is there a module that has such user profiles? It would make for better community building.

What about the "Extra Info" field that's already in the profile?

That's useful but by putting very specific data fields into the profile, you encourage users to fill them in.

I know that such modules exist for some XOOPS competitors and given the success of "Friends Reunited" type sites, I thought it would add something valuable.

XOOPS 2.2.4 has the extended user profiles module, which allows you to easily add custom fields. But don't switch to that version unless you understand the tradeoffs of using XOOPS 2.2.x vs. XOOPS 2.0.x.

I think that XOOPS 2.4 (not yet available) is also supposed to support that module or an equivalent.

With XOOPS 2.0.x, the only way of adding custom profile fields is by hacking. I believe there's a published hack, but I don't have the link handy. You could try searching for it.

I understand XOOPS 2.4 will have this feature, XOOPS 2.3 wont. if you want it right now XOOPS 2.2x has it, but then its not the recomended version (and if you go this path you wont be able to upload to 2.3, but you will be able when 2.4 is out). for the record, XOOPS 2.2x seems to work ok for some of us, and has a lot of problems for others, so its not an easy choice. I hope I explained it correctly, its kind of confusing...

My SmartTeam & News Colleague Monty did a hack for the profiles for 2.0.x...

Does this modules hack has been published?

I really need extended user profile.

Now i'm using 2.0.16.
