Changing User Information Categories

I would like to add to the types of information that my members can enter about themselves, or simply change the names of some of the categories. Is this easy to do or even possible?

For eaxmple,

I want to change ICQ to Age, which files need to be changed?

Take a look at the DB and the forms that use the DB fields. You'll need to change the input form labels to reflect the new data fields. Then you may either make certain that the data types in any pre-exisiting db fields are correct for the data you want to store. Or you'll need to make new DB fields to add your info to the DB---

From that point forward you'll be incomatible with every upcoming release of xoops... so upgrading will not work unless you reapply your changes; you'll be on your own.

That doesn't sound too promising.

Message to developer:
The ability to change the type of user information in the database would stretch XOOPS capabilities into a host of new areas.

This feature is in the Extended Profiles module of version 2.2.4. It allows you to add and customize new fields.

I don't know whether it's planned for version 2.3+.
