Massive mistake, I overwrote my index.php file by mistake....transfering files in the wrong directory! Pay more attention, is it possible to get the index file without having to reinstall the whole application?

just upload the index.php from your local copy of XOOPS and overwrite the "wrong" one. All the variables are defined in mainfile.php so you won't have to change anything.
