Link Exchange with PHP redirects - SE friendly?

Hello - someone asked me for a link exchange today, I did it, and submitted the code. The links are in the form of:
http://northernmichiganupdate.com/mo...ink.php?lid=35
- this is what my link's url looks like before it redirects to my site.
Initially, too, they didn't put the title I requested as hypertext (they put it in after I requested they do so again). Question - what is the specific impact, if any, of php redirects such as these and SEs?
Thanks.
Edited to add I don't suspect foul play - the site ranks linked sites by outgoing clicks. But I still have a concern on PHP redirects and SEs, re: 301's, etc.

Not worth of bother.

Some of the usual tricks are:
1) search engine unfriendly links (eg. php redirects as above)
2) links page that is intentionally not indexed, and never will be
3) no followed links
4) temporary links, that get removed after some time, hoping that webmasters don't check regularly whether link is still in place

I have read these aren't always unfriendly, but usually are. If the redirect is set up as a permanent one, then, I've read, it's not a problem. But I am getting a general case of a big "No." Anyone else?

Links of that nature can be actually be harmful.
http://clsc.net/research/google-302-page-hijack.htm
explains problems with 302 redirects, but the url you mention outputs 200 status codes. Recently, I have found several hijacks that output 200 status codes, and another member of this forum pointed out one to me that he said was a 303 redirect -http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=45363 - and running the url you mention through several server header checkers (http://www.searchengineworld.com/cgi...ervercheck.cgi is a good one) it output 200 status codes.
You should avoid dynamic links such as these because the search engines have problems handling them.

On this same site, in order to register, you are required to go inside zonealarms and disable third party cookie blocking, and disallow the "remove header option." You are also told to do a host of other things which, in my view, compromised security.
I would like this link removed from their site. Any suggestions?

If you want your link removed, then contact them. A redirect link is rarely a good one, I never even bother when I see them

Mdvaldosta - I should have said, are there means to compel someone to remove a link if you ask and they have refused?

Send them a link to this thread, and to this thread. Be courteous, explain that XOOPS has problems, and mention this search:http://www.google.com/search?q=xoops+redirect+hijack. Ask them to remove your link for these reasons. Suggest they change strategies, as the complaints can be bad publicity.

It seems this site is brand new, and has not had a chance to fully develop the redirect hijack problem.
But once you know that the webmaster has been informed, that the redirect hijack is actually happening, and the webmaster has refused your polite requests, many hosts and access providers are receptive to a similar email and can apply pressure that you cannot.

Here's one of the '200 status code' problems I have been looking at - search on Google for traby club romania. Not too hard to figure out who is getting hijacked, or finding the page the site is listed on.

And try it out on BigDaddy, the test d/c's that is supposed to fix these problems.

My reply so far:
I'll Check into that

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'll ask about this on the XOOPS forum and see what they say.
I thought you asked to be removed because of my news section.

I'll let yas know what the cms experts have to say

I removed the link as soon as i recieved his email requesting it.Not like it was on a porn site
