Modifying templates

Could someone point me in the right direction.. I am looking to edit some of the templates I have but am unsure on how to do this... can anyone assist me?

admin. System Admin-> Templates -> And Click on the template To Edit. (if u only have the default template then. click clone to clone the template)

To use this. Cloned template. go to

System Admin-> Preferences-> General Settings --Default template set. (select the cloned template set).
