how to upgrade old version to new

If any1 kind enuf to tell me the process to upgrade from an old version to a new one? do i have to delete everything and start from scratch? if i do this im sure my old files will be lost.

For a view of the basic method see the XOOPS System Upgrade Flash Tutorial. I am assuming you are speaking of upgrading your XOOPS version. This tutorial will work for 2.0x upgrades.
