I'm trying to install this on a few 2.2.3-Final sites, but keep getting an error on the sites:

Fatal error: Call to a member function getVar() on a non-object in C:\public_html\test\modules\statistics\include\hitcounter.php on line 23

1. I've edited the common.php file as directed.
2. When I put the statistics module in the module directory, the sites just just go white. I removed the stats module and enabled php debug, put the stats module back in the direcory and when I try to go to the site, the above error comes up.

What am I missing?
