For some reason I can't log into my locally-hosted XOOPS website from outside my local network. Within the LAN it works fine, and from outside the site can be navigated with no problems, as long as the user doesn't need to log in. I am using a basic wireless router as my internet gateway, and when I open the server up by declaring it as a DMZ, the problem goes away and full access is allowed from the outside, so I know it's a firewall-related problem, but I can't seem to find where I need to open it up. I have port 80 open and forwarded to the web server.

When I enter a username and password and submit it, I just get a login page reload.

Anyone know what the solution is??

Windows or Unix?

Make sure to disable firewall in both cases on a server itself. Just for testing purposes ofcourse. Then make sure your firewall/router device is not using a management port 80, sometimes it can brake connections by forwading to routers management console and if it's not enabled it breaks the connection. Network sniffer might help you here, but I do tend to believe that something easy and simple is here.

I agree, it should be something simple...

I should have included more details before--the machine is running Mac OS X 10.4. The local firewall, through the user interface, is always on, and you open ports by enabling specific services (i.e., apache), and the holes in the firewall are opened for you automagically. I tend to think it's not the machine itself, since the built-in firewall doesn't differentiate between the LAN and the WAN (the router handles it all), and anywhere on the LAN the login works fine. Again, enabling a DMZ to the server on the router solves the problem, so I suspect I need to allow something on the router that I'm missing...

Anyone have any more input on this? My problem continues. However, I've noticed that I can indeed log in using the "log-in" screen that comes up in the center frame when my initial log-in attempt fails. But none of the pop-up menus work--if I go into the administration menu, from outside of the LAN I can't get any of the pop-up menus to appear, and hence can't access most of the administration functionality.

Where can I get that Christmas Theme?

See I just moved from California and I have my own website for the family. But I want it to reflex what is going on here and right now it is SNOWING!!!

My goal is to have one theme for each month.....
Great site, I just not able to read all of it.

I will be trying to repeat your problem tonight when I get home and hopefully have a solution for you soon.

Thanks for your time

The Christmas theme is "ND_Xmas" from the themes repository here on xoops.org...I like it!

Thanks for any help you can give...
