I must apologize in advance for my ignorance. I am new to XOOPS. As a matter of fact, I just found out about it today. Anyway, I already have a site up but would like to use a CMS so my son can maintain the site by himself.

If I'm not mistaken, my web host provider has to have XOOPS installed on their server in order for me to be able to use it, right? Well I don't think my host (Totalchoicehosting.com) does but I'm not sure.

Has anyone found a reliable host that offers >850mb space and >40gb transfer for around $5/month? That's what I have now but like I said, I'm looking to move everything to XOOPS.

Actually, you can easily install XOOPS yourself as long as your host supports the required versions of MySQL and PHP. Apache web server is preferred as well. Most web hosts have compatible setups. You may want to review the documentation available here as well as a tutorial called Xoops For Dummies put together by JackJ.

In essense, if you know how to use an FTP client and you have a basic understanding of how html works, you'll have no problem at all using Xoops.
