mainfile.php not writable

Hello...i tried to install the XOOPS 2.0.13.2 on my website. While installing i had to make some files and folders writable. including mainfile.php. I've done that. But when i tried to continue my instalation i got the following eror:
Could not write into mainfile.php. Please check the file permission and try again
i tryed anything....i don't realise what's the problem...

if anyone knows please help me...

Linux or Windows? What server and version? Versions for PHP? MySQL?
