Hi,

ive tried to install XOOPS 2.2.3a several times without success. Everything works fine but after i enter the Admin-Name, id, email, pass on the last(?) step of the installation only a blank page apears. No errors, nothing. I did edit common.php and enable debugging to no avail. The install script proabably doesnt use it.

Ive installed several other CMS systems like Mambo and typo3 but XOOPS really gives me the creeps: Just a blank page, no error and googling for "installation blank page" revealed nothing helpfull.

Im using php 4.1.2 with register globals on and safe_mode off, mysqld 4.0.17 on a debian sarge system. As i said, Mambo was installed in like 10 minutes and it has quite the same requirements as xoops.

If i try to access the user or admin page anyway i get the follwing errors:

There is a XOOPS FAQ on what causes blank page issues and how to fix it. Try checking there.

As a recommendation to the devs i strongly suggest to output Errors from the installation script!

Is there any way to check manually if the gzip support is working with xoops? The module is installed and works with other php scripts.

I did set all occurances of "error_reporting(0)" in install/index.php to "error_reporting(E_ALL)". I am just wondering why error reporting is set 4 times to 0?!

And yes, the php.ini debugging option is on and i still only c a blank page.
