I'm a commlepte beginer and I'm starting a web site. I have a domain and a server. On server I got a cpanel, but I don't know how to install xoops. I looked under the scripts library, but there is only phpBB (with I don't want). I tried to find solutino for this problem, under this forum, but I faild.
Help!

Don´t install XOOPS from a control panel. You just don´t want to do that because in the past it often resulted in installations that were not working.

Some questions:

- do you have experience using ftp to transfer files to your webspace?

- do you know how to create a database with cpanel and a database user?

Because these are the first things you need to know.

However ... first thing to do is head over here (xoops for dummies guide) and read the introduction and installation information. Than get back here with questions before or after you started.


(another argument against any kind of cpanel installation is that in the long run it will help you much more in understanding doing it the old fashioned way )
