i see that the mylinks module is being replaced as the default links module. since wflinks is being bundled with the "community pack".

will dev of mylinks continue? or should i plan on switching to wflinks?

A new version of wf-links is in the very very early stages of coding. The original MyLinks is not supported at present I believe.
