HELP!!

Due to major problems I had to re-install XOOPS 2.0.13.1. After installing I restored MySQL backup to have all data back. Now I run into a couple of problems:
- when opening a forum it comes with the message: "error, could not connect to the forums database". I understand the message but have no clue how to solve that apart from reinstalling the forum
- Another, bigger problem. I do have registered members and guests. Whenever someone visits my site without registering he/she has limited access. But somehow I can't get the blocks for this group to show up. In groups I have set the permissions, the blocks do show up in the blocks administration for the guests group but still all I get for this group is a startpage with just a login and join possibility. Any suggestions please?? To show what I mean Skinnalicious

Re: HELP!!

Try updating your system module and your forum module.

Also, are you sure the two forum versions are the same (old and new) they should be the same.

Thanks, already did update but something really weird is going on. Updating the sys mod went fine after 2 or 3 tries!! Forum module is the same as was installed. But updating 1st time results in just the update button that comes back so no message of what has been done. 2nd time I go back to the admin page. Looks like I do have a BIG problem...:(

Re: HELP!!

Try uploading / copying back the files for the forum module. Some of them may have been missed in the first transfer.

You can copy them back and overwrite the existing files with very little risk (if they're the same version)

That may help.

Thanks. Looks like it's not a problem on my end but at my hosts. Even a fresh install doesn't work...and has the same problems. Thanks for the help anyway

sometimes updating modules can be messed up by your firewall. its just a thought, no guarantees.

Thanks, new that. But after sending an angry email to the host it looks like things are sorted out there. At least I can install things now.....
