Hi all,

I'm a total newbie to Xoops, and a newbie to running my own webserver as well :-S

I have got XOOPS up and running on Apache2 so that part all went smooth, but now I have a problem with setting up a mail server for XOOPS (?)

Members who try to sign up can't get activated because apparently I haven't got a mail server up and running (which is prolly true lol)

So my question is pretty straight forward. Can anyone explain to me in beginner terms what I need for seting up a working mailserver so XOOPS can send out activation mails?

My setup is:

Windows 2000 Advanced Server
Apache 2
MySQL 4.1+
PHP 5
Xoops 2.2 RC1

Any help appreciated since this is doing my head in

Hi Keesinho

First off i presume you have a domain. Then you can install a mail server ...there is a lot of different mail server programs out there....use one that fits your requirements...

When you have installed it make a email account on the mail server and a account in XOOPS with that email...go to the admin area and chose the user with that email to be used to send XOOPS messages with.

You probally have to use SMTP auth...well i have to anyway...
