XOOPS 2.0.13.1
Modules: News 1.1 (when I upgrade the news to 1.4 I lost all data, then I had to go back to 1.1 and the 1.1 version is not working properly either. the users submision gets lost)
phpMyAdmin 2.6.1-pl2
MySQL 4.1.11-standard

Not only News module doesn't shoe, the poll and weather(custom block) is not appearing either. The interesting part is when I take the business directoy from system/prefrence/General Settings/Module for your start page and set it to none, all the blocks appera again!!

What other modules are you using on your site?
What PHP/MySQL/Smarty Debug messages are you getting?

It may be an issue where another module is causing the problem.

Try this...

Go into Preferences Main »» General Settings and set "Update module template .html files from themes/your theme/templates directory?" to Yes.

Now go into the Modules Administration and update the System Module.

Once you are finished, set "Update module template .html files from themes/your theme/templates directory?" back to No.

Hope this helps.

Is it the same site that is causing both problems? If so, don't you think the two could be related?

I noticed you supplied the MySQL debug output, but no PHP Debug output. Please turn on PHP Debug and paste any output here. Please do the same with the Smarty Debug output.

Sorry it's taking so long to find a solution for you. There just haven't been many clues to go by.
