Hello everyone, my first post but it won't be the last. I'm going to try to do something big with this wonderful XOOPS thingie y'all have cooked up. But ya gotta start somewhere, right?

I searched the FAQs etc . . .

I followed instructions and uploaded files carefully, double checking the upload very well. If I proceed I get green lights, but when the install wizard first shows up, the graphics go to the ol' red x thing.

My guru on all things digital, the guy who pointed me to xoops, the owner of the webservers I'm doing all this on, he says that the red x guys are telling me that files are missing. He says if files are missing, the installation will be in trouble from the start. I'm just doing a test install right now, but soon I will be putting it on a site that matters, so I'd like to know if this is paranoia or wisdom.

BTW, XOOPS rocks, it appears to be the perfect software for what I'm doing. Very exciting stuff.

Well the first thing that you should do is right click on the red x's and see if the files are in fact at the correct path.

Second, the problem could be the mode of upload. Make sure that the mode that you FTP to the server is binary. If the uploads of image and PHP files are done in ascii mode they will be corrupt and not usable.

smartFTP was set to ASCII, I switched to binary and now I've got XOOPS 2.2.2 installed and I'm off to learn modules.
