i currently still have my html in place at
http://www.financemanila.net/index.html

even though ive installed my new 2.22 XOOPS already, since my index.php is still bare.
however,
http://www.financemanila.net/index.php
is still not showing the template that i uploaded.

the 7 dana template is showing
http://www.7dana.com/download/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=21

so why isnt my site showing that too? any help please is appreciated.

What you downloaded from 7-dana was a theme, not a template. I don't know how optimized the 7-dana themes are for 2.2 - don't know enough about 2.2 to say. But, there is a big difference between themes and templates in xoops. You can explore more about this here: https://xoops.org/modules/smartfaq/category.php?categoryid=17

Assuming that the 7-dana themes work in 2.2, you should make sure you have that theme selected on the admin page: Administration/Preferences/System/General Settings

Choose your theme options. Additionally, while you are experimenting, turn on Quote:
Update module template .html files from themes/your theme/templates directory?
. This will serve to update some aspects of your themes/templates. Make sure to reset it after you're done experimenting.

Again, not sure if 2.2 and old themes work.
MMM...It tastes like chicken! ...

hi thanks for the reply.

if you look herehttp://www.7dana.com/download/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=21

it says
Description: Clean, simple and fast theme - 7dana-clean template for Xoops2.0.3 > 2.0.7

and i was able to install it as template.

anyway, you were right, and dana was wrong to add confusion by labelling it as both theme and template, and i was stupid enough to be confused. anyway, onwards.

so i deleted the dana thing as a template.
i uploaded the dana in them folder.
i selected the 7dana as theme in general preferences.

but white screen comes back.
i run recovery php and it says
Notice [PHP]: Undefined index: session_expire in file recovery.php line 77

ive already looked through the helpfiles and made sure:
mainfile php is on 444,
ive already reuploaded recovery php
ive already checked the file/directories to be made 777.

(well apparently, this has turned from a help me thread,to a : hope this helps the others with the same problems- thread)

ive found out that what worked for me was TURN GZIP OFF.

why is that? any explanation why gzip wont work?
