The apostrophes and quotation mark issue would be due to magic quotes been enabled in your PHP environment I would say. Do not have any idea why the tags aren't working.

Hmm, there's another strange thing. Selecting "Koivi editor" or "XOOPS default" doesn't change the submission window at all. I used "Xoops default".

That is because the path changed to the koivi editor in the 2.2 version.

Now the [extend] and [pagebreak] tags, do you have them on a line of their own or imbedded into the article text itself?

Imbedded. If it's on their own line, nothing changes.

I had the problem of visible [extend] tag as well. Somehow it went away. Try posting a brand new article, and putting it in there. And don't forget to sepcify a neww version. At first I never did, and I suspect that totally corrupted things. At any rate no worries anymore.
