At the moment I can't upload avatars with the avantar-manager. After pressing Submit I get the message: Could not get uploaded file 0, No file uploaded.
If I succeed to upload the file then the picture does not appear in the list. The only thing I get is the famous red-cross.
When I check the upload-directory by ftp I can see the file but also that it has a size of 0 bytes.

How can I fix this problem?

What is avantar-manager? Some info needed like XOOPS version, server environment, module used, error received, etc.

Enable PHPDebug.

Look in server httpd or IIS error logs what you see there. Report those error here.

What's that famous cross? I haven't seen it, why it's famous?
Sorry, no answer yet, just quesions

I am using XOOPS 2.2.2 with PHP 5.0.4.

The avatar manager is where you can upload the system avatars as administrator (Misc. Tools -> Avatars).

The famous red-cross is what I call the red x that appears instead of an image.

No errors or other messages are diplayed with the php-debbuger activated.

I can upload a jpg, but its not visible, only red x because filesize 0 bytes. Uploading gif is not possible.

Make sure you have correct permissions on the webserver. It it is *ix system then make sure the {xoops_root}/uploads is writeable, if not then:

chmod 777(or 707) uploads and that this folder belongs to a group that can write to this folder (usually apache).

The upload directory is set to chmod 777.
I just found out that I also can't upload screenshot images with wf-links module. Have to look more into it...

Did you check your website logs?

Make sure directories are created as the user who runs http server otherwise you won't be able to write to it.
