I know how to perform an upgrade but have a small doubt.

I want to upgrade from 2.0.9.2 to 2.0.10. When I download the upgrade file and unzip it i found a directory "install" along with other directories that got me a little confused.

When we do a fresh install we have this "install" directory which we later delete (for security reaons)!

Now for an upgrade why is this directory needed? Should be keep it as it is after we copy in new files and do a system module update? (usual way that upgrades are done!)

Please somebody clarify.

Hello, you do not need the 'install' directory if you are upgrading your site. This can be safely deleted. You do need to read any update instructions that come with the patch. Also my advice to you, is to install a testite on your server, in a sub-directory. This should a duplicate of your existing site. See the FAQ for details about this. Carry out the upgrade on your testsite first and debug any problems before going on to your production site.
