PROBLEM problem please help, ok the thing is I tried this on my test XOOPS and it worked and when I tried to update from .13 to 2.2.1 on my real site I closed the site and it seems the session has expired so now when I go to mysite/xoopsupdate.php it asks me to login and since the files has changed and I need to update the System module it wont recognize my user/pass and wont log me in, Im stuck outside cant login to do the update.. any help please?

What is the error when you try to login? Did you try http://yoursite.com/recovery.php?

the error is that it says wrong user/pass.. it happened to me on my test site when I tried to login but luckly I was logged in and updated my System module and then everything went back to normal. now on my real site the thing is I turned off the site and I cant login at all to update the system! and yes I've tried to recover but.. the site is turned off and it asks me to login :( any ideas please?

I would like to thank jdseymour for his great help, it worked now, the problem was with the site being turned off and the login wouldnt work so we couldnt update xoops, however when we turned the site back on from SQL it worked.. so that should be a lesson dont update while ur site is being turned off :P
