no pm notifications coming!!!HELP

hi to all of you at first...

I've checked that pm notifications should come when someone replies to a thread..

But when someone replies to a post I've made, no notifications come as private messages to inform me that someone answered to my post!>>!

What could be wrong?

edit: I've enabled notifications from the admin menu, but i don't know if i missed something...

Have the users set themselves to be notified? It isn't enough to allow notifications, the users must each set what they want to be notified of...

And be careful of PM notifies, a user could easily set notification options that quickly fill their Inbox and they will never delete them. I like notify once until the next login option.

i can see it from my self, that when i post somewhere and have selected to be notified for the selected post when someone replies to my post i get no auto pm notification...

What is this??what could have I set wrong?

Tell us more about what you're running. XOOPS version etc.

Try setting to email notify and make sure at least it is trying to send the notification.

If you've upgraded lately make sure you've updated any custom templates and updated the system module.

I am running on XOOPS 2.0.13 and newbb 2.

I did the upgrade to newbb 2, just after i made a clean install of Xoops, before i put anything on the page..

Wait a sec, i'll try to turn auto notify to e-mail...

No, it doesn't seem to be sending even e-mail messages as auto notifications..

edit: Can I edit mail templates inside XOOPS admin panel and without FTP?
I'm having problems with my host lately.
In the cpanel it says that the license file expired and when i try to connect via FTP it doesn't get my password correct!

Normally I would have guessed a template issue since this is a symptom of upgrades that didn't update the templates (notifications being one of those issues).

To narrow it down to the core or newbb have you setup notification on a module other than newbb and tried it? If it then works but not from newbb you have a template issue in newbb more than likely. Otherwise it is a core problem.

If you are using custom templates instead of the default then you can delete the newbb (and maybe system) templates and regenerate them to fix the problem.

Yes you can edit templates in the system admin panel. But you have to clone the default template and edit that. But you shouldn't do that until the system is stable first. The templates as shipped should work fine for notifications.

(one more thing, try reuploading the newbb files. You can overwrite the current files but make sure you actually overwrite them.) If you can't use FTP then from your host panel delete the entire newbb folder and make a new one from a clean source file.

you're right. I checked to be notified when a new story in the news section is submitted but even then i didn't get any pm notification..

So, to conclude it's a core issue.

Well, what should I do??
Please help me on this, I really need it...
I cannot erase XOOPS and reinstall it ofcourse.[that's out of the question!]

Can you please tell me, which are the vital folders and files so that pm notifications should work OK?

If you can, make a screenshot of those folders.
That should help me a lot.
I have newbb2 as I said before..

[it could consist of a problem that my main site language is greek and newbb2 is in english? I tried to change the folder "language" under newbb folder from english to greek and vice versa but both my actions went down the drain.]
I also tried to import the mail templates from the older newbb to my current newbb2 but that didn't work either.]

HELP!!
