Very good points davidl2.

Sorry for my rudeness. I get a little irritated with negativity. I should not have replied with negativity.

I too see LB's points and they are valid.

However... lets prove this not to be a case of a good idea which falls by the wayside

Do keep up the constructive ideas coming. Still have some loose ends to take care of on my end, then will have something to show.

Cheers.

Hi All,

I believe the idea of paid development is a good one in general.
I am also certain their are many more Xoopsers out there that can develop a module, theme, hack etc than we see around us now. (I can code a very little myself)
However quite a few people like myself have hardly got the time and for me it wouldn't make any difference if I got paid or not.
I still just wouldn't have the time

Also the "good" developers in XOOPS land (I mean this well) might mainly start to work on paid projects for customers and less on community modules and hacks. Or don't you think this is a possibility ?

Perhaps it is an option to develop modules for paying customers (i'd pay!) and release them after maybe 6/12 months to the community...This way the customer gets his module as a custom job and then when all the bugs are gone we can all enjoy the hard work.

To lighten the load it might also be an option to have projects customers can sign up for. That way they can split the cost between them or combine their funds and make a better module.

Lots to think about anyway.

Kind regards, Highlander

Being able to donate towards a project, would be excellent - if there was assurance it would appear.

That is a difficult point. I guess my freelance site can help out, like all other freelance sites out there, with trying to keep both sides true, since if they are not, they will not get more jobs or bids.

The group donations being the only aspect that is racking my brains right now. You still need a trustworthy person to take the lead.

As admin of my site, I could satisfy this by becoming the sole person to trust in the balancing act of coders getting paid and donators not getting jacked of their donations to a project.

Cheers
