I know it is possible, but can anyone see a problem with several people logging in with the same username, for example, with username 'demo' and pass 'demo'?

The demo group would be strictly limited to specific content. and PM would be disabled.

If you're just looking to publish a demo site, you may want to look at Opensourcecms.com. They use a script that resets the database every hour. Maybe you could contact the webmaster there and find out how they did it.

What you would need to do is restore the database at set intervals, (as bluenova does on his module site).

Here is an article about the script bluenova uses. It is a MySQL script and can be run and scheduled from cron:

MySQL Database Restore

HTH.

Thx for the suggestions. I have jdseymour's cron script to reset the DB (very useful) - unfortunately, it turns out I need a significant upgrade with my hosting company to get cron.

I have actually downloaded 'pseudo-cron' which sounds interesting but I have no idea if it works yet.

I really wanted to provide selective access - i.e. only allow access to those people I emailed the username and password to. I'll probably just set up some temporary accounts.
