Does AMS only track reads if that article is clicked?

With AMS you can view all articles at once by clicking the articles menu item. What is strange is, I see people in my articles ALL the time. I know my articles are being read by many people every day. So the question is, are the reads stats only updated if they click to read a SPECIFIC article, like from a latest articles block, etc..

They would have to click the read more link to view the full article before it is counted. Also web spiders or search bots will not be counted.

I see, well I must have screwed something up, because alhough there IS a readmore option, the ENTIRE article is listed when I click articles....lol I knew something had to be wrong...

Know what I mean? There is no "teaser" section. It's the whole article. And some of my articles span 6000 words..

When you write an article in AMS use the [extend] tag to set your teaser text. And after using the [extend] tag, you can use the [pagebreak] tag to create separate pages if your article is very long.

HTH.

Thanks again,

Guess I am still doing it wrong..I put a [extend] and [/extend] tag around my first paragraph for a teaser and it made no difference.

Also when previewing, forward slashes are inserted in before every quote, over and over.

But my really crucial concern now is this, how do I make some articles available for registered useres only?

No, just [extend] no [/extend], make sure also the articles are not cached, otherwise it will take some time before changes are seen.

And put [extend] where you want the break to be, not at the beginning of the article.

Ahh forgot about caching, thanks. Now to my only remaining issue. Can I make some articles only available to registered members?

Yes

1. Set view permissions on one or more topics to not include anonymous users.

or

2. Create a new "audience" only containing the registered users and put the articles in that audience. Non-registered users will only be able to read the introduction text, but not the full article.

Thanks Mithrander,

Worked like a charm. Ok....I am editing my articles putting the [extend] tag after the teaser paragraph. When I go to view the article I can SEE the tag in the article, and the rest of the article is STILL visible. What am I doing wrong?
