I have taken a theme and have put it in to dreamweaver and N-vu and text editor and tried editing through cpanel, I have tried making a new directory name under my thems and uploading a modified version of the theme there. Not counting clearing my saved internet/cashe files off the computer countless times, to no avail. I can change the gif's just fine, just when making a change to the index.html the only html file in the theme not counting style.css, all i am trying to do at the moment is take out the xoops_banner from the bottom and put it up top. I even tryied just modifying the text at the footer of index.html and it shows as if it is edited but when I pull the theme up in my site after editing it there is no change what so ever. I have even switched themes and modified the html and reloaded it and no change but the index.html stayes changed?? I am at a compleat loss on how to modify this theme. I wanted to use a layout that i liked and modify it for my site since i am PHP illiterate. Is there some other place XOOPS keeps the themes at? or some other place where i have to edit it?????

Editing index.html won't get you very far. XOOPS looks for theme.html. Try renaming index.html to theme.html. Make sure System Admin >> Preferences Main >> General Settings >> "Update module template .html files from themes/your theme/templates directory?" is set to "Yes" so your changes will take effect.

Hope this helps.
