Hi Xoopizens,
This is probably my 4th hosting company is the last one year. To avoid much effect on my website i have almost decided to have website hosted with 2 diffrent hosting companies (probably in diffrent country) this will keep my uptime of the site.
I would like to know would it work with XOOPS site as there will be lot of posting of comments and article on the site will this be updated on both the servers.
Is any doing this at the moment?
Could someone advise me what would be the best solution?
Thank you in advance for your response.
Keep Xooping

Seems impossible to me, because you want to host it at two different locations/hosters. The dns directs your domain name to one ip adres, so it is only possible when the master dns redirects to your own dns server which can have a rule: if ip 1 = unavaible then redirect to ip 2.
A better solution would be (if you have the money) to find one place that mirrors your site on two different ip's.

I dont get this, i have access to my domain names and can specify any number of nameservers.
Could you please pass me more information on mirror sites.

I will pm you cause it is a long technical story,. Check your pm mail box this week.

At my job we are trying to get our webserver in a redundant/failover state, meaning if one server fails or has too much traffic the other one will kick in.

Re: Dual Server hosting

You could always put two IPs in the DNS.
Best would probably be to use a load balancing setup so that load is evenly distributed.

Get a dedicated server for the database hosting, and you can change in the config file to that location of the database... then you can host the files anywhere you want and always using the MySQL database on one server
