Need News story to display on front page?

I'm trying to do the same thing with my front page as the XOOPS website. I want some of my news stories to display with some or all of their content to all (anon and up) users right on the main page of the website.

I keep assuming I'm missing something either with my news setup or one of the blocks...but I've seemingly tried everything and all I can get is links to my news stories with the various blocks.

As I needing a new news module or custom developed blocks? Or am I missing something obvious?

My test site is at http://www.ootponline.com if you need to see what I am referring to.

Which version of News are you using?

Further forum searching I discovered that 1.3 isn't the newest version and also leads me to believe I'm looking for a "spotlight" feature. I couldn't find it anywhere in my version, so I am installing 1.3.1 now to see if that is my problem.

I've upgraded to 1.31 and still can't find anything that has anything to do with a "spotlight" function. Where do I find this functionality? I simply need the full content of some of my most recent news stories to show up in the center block of my main page.

spotlight feature is enabled at the "recent news" block.
