Due to my "day job" (network admin), I tend to be a bit on the paranoid side, so I disagree with DjManolo's statement. The XOOPS core is quite secure, but
nothing is 100% secure. Also, you have to take modules into consideration. Some module developers are just getting started in php and may not know the best security practices.
My recommendation, Protector. Also, spend some time in the FAQ section on this site and read through the information available at
XOOPS Tips.
