What I'm trying to do is port over from an Access database of closed user information. It is for a discussion list that requires registration, but the information is only seen by the moderator or the individual that entered it - not the rest of the world (unless they want to share it with the world) Currently, the database is closed. After the initial input, only the moderators can see or edit the information. I'd like the person who put the information in to be able to see JUST THEIR OWN information and edit it as needed.
I've downloaded a couple of address books/contact lists and stared at them. It seems redundant to duplicate membership information this way. Plus the ones I've installed are either "all or nothing" - no way to limit who get's to see the information. What I'm dreaming of - and I'm sure that someone has hacked/created this already - is a way that the registration data for the web site can contain the required name/address/phone or unit/address/phone with a restriction that it is "not visible" in the directory, unless, of course the member checks something to say that it is.
Ideas? Suggestions? Surely somebody out there has done this already?
