I posted this under comments - perhaps I should have posted here instead.

OK, I must have done something wrong. I uninstalled "MyLinks". I installed "Weblinks". Everything looks good on the configuration part. I added my categories, sub-categories (like the way that works), turned on my blocks (I want everyone to see links, registered folks to make/edit links) and entered a link.
No link, no where. Admin panel says it's there, checked the information. I'm only requiring the basic - link, title, email, name, description - nothing like graphic or RSS or addresses. No link listed anywhere. Logged on, not logged on, nowhere. I also don't like the fact that is lists the categories on the left side bar instead of the center panel.
The center panel has the titles of the blocks, but nothing underneath them.
Darnit, I wish this would work.

Now, I've tried re-installing "MyLinks" and I'm checking to see if that cures anything, but no where does the Module say that it depends on "MyLinks" to work.
