Hi everybody, my website is currently using slashcode but I'm looking for an alternative because slashcode isn't supported by many (or even any) hosting companies. XOOPS looks like an interesting alternative but I have a few questions that I couldn't find when reading the documentation:

1. Is there a module that allows people to reply to a persons comment/forum posts? For example, the front page of XOOPS.org has a news post "Xoops 2.0.13 Security Release" with 43 comments. Some of those 43 comments are actually comments of a comment. It would be nice if there was a "reply to comment" feature and the ability to display nested comments to make it easier to follow comments within a news post or within a forum post. Slashcode and Scoop do this.

2. Is there a module to moderate the comments? Some type of comments rating system so that people have the option to only read the good comments.

3. Is there a module that allows users to write their own Journals? This might be redundant since XOOPS has built in discussion forums but it would still be nice to have.

1. Yes, comments can be displayed in nested, threaded or flat views.

2. I haven't seen one.

3. Search for 'blog' on this site, there are several different modules you could use.

And as a 'by the way', there is no built-in forums in XOOPS. The forum module that is included with the current stable release is only one of several forum modules available for XOOPS. Further XOOPS releases will only include modules performing core functions ( no forums module ) and will instead have recommended packages of modules for specific purposes.

For a forum module my personal choice would be CBB, it's built for XOOPS, is actively being developed and has excellent support.
