Hi amayer,

How is the development of this module different to AMS? Both are/will be released free of charge, both ask for financial contributions to cover development costs, and both ask for contributions to cover future development costs. The only difference I can see is that with AMS I had the module developed and then asked for contributions, where as cuckston has done this the other way around. Both approaches have their pros and cons. The donations might seem more like a fee to some with AMS as by the time I come around to asking for donations the module has already been developed. On the otherhand an advantage of this is you know that there is a tangable product there, and that your donation money isn't simply going to vanish into vapourware.

I have no problem what so ever with Rhomal having a different view point from me. It is when he starts (and repeatedly) expresses that viewpoint in a hostile and inflammatory manner that it then becomes the actions of a troll.

Troll definitions here;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll

http://curezone.com/forums/troll.asp

Anyway, I aggree that we should ALL aggree to disagree. You will notice though it took Rhomal to drag up this sore point of discussion again in this thread when it had been dead for 30 odd posts. If that is not the act of a troll, I don't know what is.

*edit*

P.S - Sorry for hijacking your thread Cuckston, I PROMISE you won't read anymore from me on this point in this thread.

That's a good answer to your own question LOL

I also think you didn't release the module for free until enough money had been paid.

Anyway... back to the topic..... and back to work...

Cuckston says that downloads will be free of charge. But upgrades will be done according to how much money he gets through donations. That's different to how AMS was released.

Andy

Fair enough. This is, obviouslly, a pet peeve of mine as I am sure you can tell. I do not like deceptive practices as IMO were employed by the ppl who sold AMS. Lets just have the testicular fortitude to call it what it is, and call it a day.

As for brash.. bah.. ignore him, I do. He lives up to his handle, enough said. :)

Hi all,

Firstly i would like to appologise for the time it has taken to release this module. I remember saying about a month a go that it would only take a few days but those few days ended up taking a few weeks and i thank you for being patient.

Secondly, the module is finaly completed! Everything seems to be working and i think my programmer has ironed out the very large majority of bugs.

You can download the module athttp://www.nothrillshost.com/UK/xoops.htm

You can view a demo of the module athttp://www.nothrillshost.com/subscription

INSTALATION
Once you have installed the script you will need to make the module availble to unregistered users. You do this by going to your admin page, then System Admin -> Groups -> Anonymous Users -> Modify. Then click on the MC Subscriptions access box.

There are going to be features added to this script which will include the ability to edit subscriptions and edit users. This will be availble in the next upgrade.

I dont want to sound like a begger but this module will only be able to get constant upgrades through donations as i am not a programmer. I out-sourced a freelancer to do this project. You can donate towards the project throughhttp://www.nothrillshost.com/UK/xoops.htm. I also welcome addons from other programmers within the XOOPS community. If anyone is able to addon to this script please let me know at xoops@nothrillshost.com.

Many thanks

You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ')' at line 1
