New to CSS -- how to use a special font?

I'm making a site for a local Karate studio using a XOOPS theme that has a CSS.

I wanted to replace the current font used in the CSS for some items with a special japanese-looking font.

Is there a way to make sure the font is downloaded and used on the site when specified in the CSS?

No the font will only show if it is installed on the users computer, otherwise a standard font will be used.

Of course you could always offer the font to your regular users for download.
