How do I centre the default xoops theme?

I can't figure out how to centre the standard XOOPS theme and also apply a background image outside of the main table, I want it to look like the following http://www.oesie.nl

I've put in the div align centre tags after the body tags in the default theme but it doesnt work... it keeps centering to the left:(
my website address is http://www.getin2web.com, I've modified the theme.html and css style but it doesnt seem to make a difference!!
