Once you download a module to your computer from the module repository...how do you get it uploaded to xoops? I can't find an upload option for new modules via my XOOPS admin panel. Any help is appreciated.

There isn't an upload option. You need and ftp client to upload it to your server.

hi nikain

Don?t you have a FTP program, like CuteFTP, for instance?
The XOOPS system doesn?t offer a own ftp program.

No I don't have an ftp program. I have a cPanel and one of the options on it is an ftp manager, is this an ftp program or do I need to go and get one?

Hi

I never used the cPanel?s ftp. But if it allows you to upload a whole folder and not only separated files I guess you can use It. Otherwise it?ll be a really slow process to upload several files.

But just as an advice, give a try to some good ftp program

Hope this helps

Just Google on FTP and you'll get thousands of hits for FTP programs, some are free.

I use CuteFTP. Its not free, but its worth it.

Smart ftp is very nice - and they do a free version... but i'm sure other people can recommend alternatives.

I have been using smartftp up until I have had problems with the file transfers being stopped for some reason. I'm still looking for a new client.... tried wsftppro but the trial is almost up. It seemed to work pretty good though.

I use Filezilla:

filezilla.sourceforge.net

Once you've got an ftp program installed on your machine, set it up with your host's ftp details (hostname, username, password) then upload the module from your hardrive to the /modules/ directory in the root of your XOOPS installation on the web server. Once this is complete you should be able to see the new module listed at the bottom of the screen in Admin > Modules. Click on the install icon there and away you go.
