Hi all.
I'm tryin' to install XOOPS on a linux box fedora C3.
After installed apache 2.0, php 4, MySQL 3.XX and configured correctly (I hope) apache, I can see the installation page for Xoops. After two next the first stop! some directories are NOT writable. (False! every one of these dir have 777 permissions) then I have modified index.php file and wrote the full path of these dirs and file mainfile.php. OK, I now can go at the next page but I still have this:

Could not write into mainfile.php. Please check the file permission and try again.

It's not a chmod problem!

Cosa devo smontare per farlo andare?

Hi axyl104,

The only directories that are required to be chmod 777 for XOOPS is: uploads, template_c, and cache.

For installation mainfile.php needs to be chmod 777 so the server can write to it. After install is complete change mainfile.php to chmod 444.

HTH.

Thanks for your post!
if the only requirements are those then I have made evrìery things possibles.
There are some Fedora or apache 2 security personalizations that are trying to drive me crazy?

Thanks again!

You are welcome.

You may want to view my Xoops Installation Flash Tutorial, it goes through an actual install, shows some errors that can happen and how to fix.

HTH.
